1. Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Act
Adopted on May 7, 2003, (into force May 20, 2003) the Bulgarian Law for Combating Human Trafficking focus on prevention and protection of victims especially women and children, defines for first time “reflection period” and “recovery period”, provides special protection for victims who are cooperating with police authorities. The law defines the establishment of the institutional capacity and cooperation between the governmental and non-governmental actors in setting up the national policy. With this law the National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking was created in order to implement it and to develop the policy for combating human trafficking.
