01On October 3 (Monday), in the British Embassy's residence in Sofia, the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings held a press conference on the occasion of the start of the annual national awareness raising campaign to mark the European Day against Human Trafficking, 18 October. The campaign was organized in partnership with the Bulgarian Association for Family Planning and Sexual Health, British Embassy, the State Agency for Child Protection, National Network for Children, UNICEF, International Organization for Migration, the Bulgarian Red Cross, EAVES, Comic Relief, Foundation "Centre Nadia", Foundation "Karitas". The press conference was opened by H. E. Catherine Barber, Chargé d'affaires (Acting Head of Mission) of the UK Embassy in Bulgaria.

This year, the campaign of the National Commission is focused on the potential of visual arts, and their larger usage during the communication on the subjects related to trafficking in human beings. In connection with the theme, special guest was the British film director, Ruth Benny, who presented the animated film "Two little girls", treating trafficking of women for sexual exploitation. The prominent Bulgarian filmmakers Stephen Komandarev and Maria Vassileva took part in the pressconference as well.
