01 empty lionsOn 14 December 2010 in Russe, an international forum will be held under the project "Development of a transnational mechanism for combating trafficking in human beings in Romania and Bulgaria", implemented by the partnership among three Caritas organizations – Caritas France, Caritas Russe, Bulgaria and Caritas Bucharest, Romania. The project is financed by the European Commission, Directorate-General Justice, Freedom and Security: JLS/2007/ISEC/486 and co-financed by Caritas France. The main aim of the project is to create a safe environment for the young people in the border region of Danube river by realizing joint preventative activities against the risk of human trafficking, coordinated with the new conditions upon EU accession of Bulgaria and Romania.

The main focus of the forum will be on the cooperation among the countries of origin and destination in the processes of identification and reintegration of the victims of trafficking. Among the participants in the event there will be representatives of institutions and NGOs from France, Romania and Bulgaria, representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice of France and Romania. On Bulgarian side, there are invitees from the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, Agency for Social Assistance, State Agency for Child Protection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Local Commissions for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. The participants will be greeted by Mrs. Antoaneta Vassileva, Secretary of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Mr. Plamen Stoilov, Regional Governor of Russe region and Mr. Bojidar Jotov, Mayor of Russe Municipality.
