01 empty lionsOn 09 and 10 June 2011 in Sofia, in Hilton Hotel will be held an international forum "Human Trafficking: Legal Practices and Challenges", organized by the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings" (NCCTHB), in partnership with Hanns Seidel Foundation. The purpose of the forum is to present the legal frameworks of the countries of origin, transit and final destination of victims of human trafficking and the challenges in the prosess of investigation of international cases of trafficking.

The Forum will be opened by Mr. Veselin Vuchkov - Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior and member of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Mrs. Daniela Masheva - Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice and member of the NCCTHB, H. E. Mrs. Judith Lang - Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria and Mrs. Antoaneta Vassileva, Secretary of the NCCTHB.

The Forum will bring together experts from Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Germany, UK, Switzerland, Holland, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Greece and France, as well as representatives of international organizations dealing with the problems of human trafficking.

The Forum will be attended by H. E. Tove Skarstein - Ambassador of Norway to Bulgaria, H. E. Mr. Luis Sdebaka - Department for Monitoring and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, the USA, Mr. Jean-Francois Minet - Advisor in Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Regina Rusz - Head of sector "International cooperation and prevention of crime", Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Marcus Gehiller, Investigator in Department " Trafficking in Human Beings" in Zurich Police, Mrs. Monique Mos - Judge at the Hague, Holland.

On Bulgarian side, the Forum will be attended by Mr. Evgeni Dikov - Prosecutor, Supreme Court of Cassation; Mrs. Veronika Imova - Judge, Supreme Court of Cassation; Mr. Svetlozar Georgiev - Chief Inspector, GDCOC; Mrs. Dimitrina Boyanova - General Directorate "Border Police", experts of the Ministry of Interior; representatives of the key institutions and organizations involved in the policy of the country on combating trafficking in human beings.

Throughout the Forum, the participants will have the opportunity to present, share and discuss the best practices and the problems they face in dealing with cases of trafficking with regards to the legal frameworks which will establish the prerequisites for improvement of cooperation among the participating countries.

The National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, as a part of the Council of Ministers, aims to define and guide the implementation of the national policy and strategy on combating trafficking in human beings.The National Commission works to prevent risks of being trafficked, works on protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of trafficking.
