01 empty lionsA conference between representatives of the Bulgarian and Greek authorities will be held on 20-21 September 2011 in Thessaloniki within the framework of the international project MARIO, organized by ARSIS – Greece and The Neglected ChildrenSociety ECPAT – Bulgaria, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

During the conference the results of MARIO report regarding the Bulgarian children working on the streets of Thessaloniki will be discussed. Bulgarian and Greek parties, together with participating NGOs will exchange good practices and share experience in the prevention of migration and trafficking of children with the aim of exploiting them as thieves or beggars in Greece. The main objectives of the meeting are improving the bilateral cooperation in organizing of prevention and identification of children-victims, provision of support and assistance and the process of repatriation, supervision and social reintegration of the child.

Participants from the Bulgarian side will be relevant institutions such as the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Mrs. Radoslava Kafedzhiyska, Mr. Harizan Harizanov and Mr. Kremen Stoev, Bulgarian consulars in Greece, Mr. Svetlozar Georgiev, senior inspector from Directorate General "Combating Organized Crime", and officers from service "Border Police" at the Ministry of the Interior.
