Would you work without a contract abroad in vague terms and promised a good salary?

On 28th and 29th of March 2012, the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in Plovdiv, organized a training for volunteers between the age of 15 and 18.

The training aimed at involving young people in the volunteerism and the main issues of trafficking in human beings as well as to give them the opportunity to get into the role of educators of their peers and to use in an active way the knowledge they gained. In the second phase of the training, participants were able to choose appropriate methods, materials and ways of evaluation their effectiveness and to create their own lessons units to present to other young people in schools in Plovdiv. Trained volunteers will be included in the voluntary network of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.

On 7th of March 2012, in the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings' Conference hall a meeting of the Permanent Working Group of the Commission was held. During the meeting the results of the project Improving Cross-border Cooperation in Cases of Human Trafficking in Southeast Europe (TRM-II) were presented.

The project started in November 2010 as a continuation of the Program for Support the Development of Transnational Mechanisms for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings in Southeast Europe. Partners of this project were: The Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate "Combating Organized Crime".

During the meeting the key achievements of the project TRM II, which were presented during the final regional seminar held in Bucharest, Romania at the end of the previous month, were discussed,

The new project of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) - Capacity Building for Combating Trafficking for Labour Exploitation, which initiated in December 2011 with duration of 17 months, was also presented. Four multi-disciplinary trainings of professionals are planned as a part of the project activities.

On 27-29th of February 2012, the Final Regional Seminar in the framework of the project Enhancing Transnatoinal Cooperatoin on Trafficking Cases in South-Eastern Europe (TRM-II) was held in Bucarest, Romania

Officials and experts from the participating countries form South-Eastern Europe, representatives of countries outside the region, as well as international experts attended the Seminar. The implementation of the TRM II Project concluded with this event. The key achievements of the TRM Project will be presented and will serve as a sound basis for discussion of lessons learned and for the formulation of recommendations for future transnational cooperation with regard to counter-trafficking issues.

The project was launched in November 2010 as a continuation of Program for Assisting the Development of the Transnational Mechanisms for Referral of Victims of Human Trafficking in South-Eastern Europe, implemented in a partnership between the Ministry of the Interior and the Chief Directorate "Combating Organized Crime".

From Bulgarian part the members of the National Working Group were: Mrs. Antoaneta Vassileva, Secretary General of the National Commission for Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings and Coordinator of the National Working Group and Mr. Georgi Karakolev, Chief inspector, sector "Trafficking in Human Beings" at the Head Directorate "Combating Organized Crime". Officials and experts from the participating countries from the South-Eastern Europe, representatives of countries outside the region as well as international experts attended the Seminar.

During the Seminar the key achievements in TRM projects were presented which will serve as a basis of a future international cooperation in the field of combatting trafficking in human beings. Within the framework of the project a research was conducted which referred to the specific points of the application of the elaborated Transnational Referral Mechanism. Among the basic results it was indicated the raising awareness on the victim's needs, harmonization of TRM Guidelines and their adaptation on national level, including their formal adaptation, their integration in the existing procedures as well as their use in practice. Some of the activities used to achieve these results include national and international workshops, seminars and trainings including more than 2000 persons.

During the Seminar the new ICMPD project Capacity Building for Combating Trafficking for Labour Exploitation was presented which is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs which will comes as a spin-off of the TRM.

Experts from the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings will participate in the training of mediators working in the country, held at the Center for Human Resource Development and regional initiatives to MLSP. The main objective of the training is gaining more knowledge and skills to mobilize brokering labor market. The theme "human trafficking" is addressed in Section RAISING AWARENESS OF EMPLOYEES OF THE PROBLEMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING and covers legal and institutional framework, definition of human trafficking and criminal differentiation of similar composition, method of recruitment, prevention and identification characteristics and trends in human trafficking for labor exploitation, protection of victims.
